Hi everyone,

Our next field trip long run will be on Sunday, March 6th at Lake Youngs in Renton! Big thanks to Steve Heaps for helping put on our previous event on the SVT.

Important: PLEASE CARPOOL if possible!

What are field trip long runs?

This is a social long run that happens every 4-6 weeks, where we meet at a scenic, soft-surface location near Seattle. Post-run food and drink provided (complete list below). We started this event during COVID with the goal of creating opportunities to socialize with each other and experience the amazing scenery we have around Western Washington.

Why should I come?

Long runs are better together! Enjoy the energy of running with a big group, the scenery and soft surfaces, and doughnuts! Friends-of-CNW members welcome.

For this trip, we will be running the Lake Youngs loop. Features include:

  • Gravel, hilly, forested, loop around Lake Youngs with a remarkable number of right angles.
  • Starting/finishing at Petrovitsky Park, with picnic tables/gazebos to hang out.
  • Facilities: Bathrooms, lots of parking.

(not many appealing pictures of Lake Youngs on Google...trust us, it's nice)

Logistics:

  • Parking / meeting location: Petrovitsky Park - https://goo.gl/maps/yRypCyjEhd7ty9Rm8
  • Run start time: 9am
  • Route: 9.4mi loop around Lake Youngs, plus 0.5mi extension to get to/from the park, so minimum run distance is 10.4 miles. To make it longer, you can add an out-and-back after the first loop (or even do 2 loops for 19.8 miles!) Google Maps route, and Strava activity (doesn't include 0.5mi extension to park)
  • Transportation: Please carpool if possible! (or use public transportation). We had 56 people last time, and don't want to overwhelm the public parks we're using. Check the corresponding post on our FB group or reply to this email if you need a ride.
  • Food: Bananas, doughnuts (vegan+non), bagels+PB+jam
  • Drinks: Water, chocolate milk (cow+soy).
  • Please RSVP to this event so we know how much food to get and how many people to expect!

Lastly, if you have enjoyed these events, consider chipping in a buck or two to help us cover the cost of food! Donation page:

We hope to see you there!
