Each division has a male and a female section.  Divisions for adults may be split into 5-year age divisions if entries warrant.  This was done for several divisions in 2012-13.

Division Scoring

All runners in each division, not including single race entrants, are ranked and awarded points, with 10 for first, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth.  One point is also given to all finishers in that division not in the top ten.

You must finish four races to score.  If you run more than four races, your best four point totals count toward your standings.  A perfect score is 40, and we are devising special ways to embarrass – err, honor – someone so dominant in their division!

Tie-breakers include the winner being the person who: runs more races; or has a higher place in a fifth race or in the fifth and sixth races combined.  We generally don’t have to go beyond those tie-breakers.

Special Race Themes!

December 21 • HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY

Randomly throughout the finish we will give away a bunch of little prizes – and a couple of big ones – to participants!

January 4 • ALUMNI DAY

We will score the second cross country race for your high school team – whether you are a current or past team member, or the parent of a current team member.  The top 15 runners will earn extra points for their team, but every participant for each school earns one point for their school!  This year we are giving the winning school $100 toward a pizza party, followed by their own team night at Super Jock ‘n Jill!

January 18 • PREDICT YOUR TIME!

The second road race will be a prediction time event, with some fun prize certificates for the best predictors.  You get your first mile time on the clock, but we don’t have a clock at the finish and you are not allowed to wear a watch, use a stopwatch, carry a sundial or calendar, wear an MP3 player, etc.  Anyone receiving verbal clues, hand signals from someone in the crowd, or other assistance is disqualified – this is intended to be determined solely by YOUR skill as a pace runner!

ALL SEASON • BEST CLUB AWARD

This year we will keep a point total for all runners who are members of PNTF youth, open, and/or masters clubs.  The winning club will receive the club trophy, last won by CNW in 2009-2010 (we did not keep track last year).  We will also help sponsor a social for the winning club, up to $150 value!
