Hi everyone,

Our first field trip long run of the cross country season will be on Sunday, September 11th at Tolt-MacDonald Park in Carnation! Join us as we celebrate the beginning of cross country and fall marathon seasons. Special thanks to Claire Wendle for helping organize while I'm out of town!

What are field trip long runs?

This is a social long run that happens every 4-6 weeks, where we meet at a special, scenic, soft-surface spot somewhere outside Seattle. Post-run doughnuts, breakfast-y food, chocolate milk, and water is provided. We started this event after COVID with the goal of creating opportunities to socialize with each other and experience the amazing scenery we have around Western Washington.

Why should I come?

Because long runs are better together! Enjoy the camaraderie of running with ya teammates, the scenery and soft surfaces, free doughnuts, and chocolate milk. Bring your friends and long run buddies and make it a party! (friends-of-CNW members welcome)

For this trip, we will be running the Snoqualmie Valley Trail (SVT) starting at Tolt-Macdonald Park. Features include:

  • Forested, soft surface, flat and railroad-grade out and back (Snoqualmie Valley Trail). Cool trestle bridges too!
  • Portapotties, plenty of parking
  • Covered picnic area across the bridge where we'll have the food

Logistics:

  • Parking / meeting location: Tolt-Macdonald Park - https://goo.gl/maps/DmL8QH2FSPT5iCov6
  • Run start time: 9am
  • Route: Out-and-back on SVT. Head southeast from the parking lot to SVT (1.2mi), then go south as far as you want.
  • Transportation: Drive yourself - no great public transportation options. Carpooling highly encouraged; check our FB group for carpooling options or reach out to Mitch Rees-Jones (or any of your CNW buddies) if you need a ride.
  • Food: Bananas and chocolate milk, doughnuts, bagels+breakfast condiments, and a variety of other stuff. Water will be provided!
  • RSVP: Please RSVP to this event so we know how much food to get!

We hope to see you there!
