Hi everyone,

Our next field trip long run will be on Sunday, April 2 on the Iron Horse trail starting from Rattlesnake Lake. It'll be the final long run before upcoming marathons for many CNW teammates this spring, so join us to talk final weeks of training and tapering and wish everyone luck!

Features of this route:

  • Gravel, railroad-grade, forested trail with trestle bridges.
  • Nice picnic tables near the iconic Rattlesnake Lake to enjoy your post-run treats. You could even swim if you want!
  • Facilities: Bathrooms, lots of parking (though it will be busy)

Logistics

  • Parking: IF you have a Discover Pass, park at the Palouse trailhead: https://goo.gl/maps/gymkgYyWnBXN9tMB6. Otherwise, try the main parking lot - https://goo.gl/maps/Gu3xhth5tjofrYYK6 - or down the road at the Watershed Education Center - https://goo.gl/maps/jYCBWedmwnXzuP7N9.
  • Start time: 8:30am
  • Route: Out and back on Iron Horse, however far you want. Here's 10 miles worth of "out": https://goo.gl/maps/Msfq5bsPw2BVpet58
  • Transportation: Please carpool if possible! Check our FB group for carpooling or reach out to Claire Wendle or Madeline Westerhoff if you need a ride.
  • Food: Breakfast-y, carb-y things sure to satisfy. Doughnuts will definitely be there.
  • Drinks: Water, chocolate milk (dairy + non-dairy)
  • Please RSVP to this event so we know how much food to get and how many people to expect!

What are field trip long runs?

This is a social long run that happens every 4-6 weeks, where we meet at a scenic, soft-surface location near Seattle. Post-run food and drinks provided. Mitch helped to start this event during COVID with the goal of creating opportunities to socialize with each other and experience the amazing scenery we have around Western Washington.

Why should I come?

Long runs are better together! Enjoy the energy of running with a big group, the scenery outside of Green Lake and the Burke-Gilman Trail, soft surfaces, and doughnuts! Friends-of-CNW members welcome.

What can I contribute?
